Top 10 Succulent Customer Photos

MCG is Celebrating 2,000 Rivet Works Submissions

We are excited to announce that we've now received over 2,000 Rivet Works customer photo submissions. Mountain Crest Gardens partnered with Rivet Works in late 2016 and we've been loving it ever since. This service follows up with our customers after their order has been received and allows them to submit photos. Each customer that submits gets entered in a monthly drawing to win $100 Visa Gift Card. Rivet Works has allowed us to see just how many different projects our customers do with our succulents. We love checking in everyday to see all of the unique creations and insightful comments!

To celebrate the first 2,000, we searched through every one of the submissions to find our top ten picks. It wasn’t easy, as there were so many great photos to choose from, but we were finally able to agree on our favorites. Each one of the top ten will get a little something from us. Check them out below:

#1 Mission Discovery for the International Space Station. Submitted by, Gentry Barnett on Space Tango.

MCG discovered only after the Sempervivum was in already in space exactly where this lucky Semp had gone. The Sempervivum Starlight [Starshine} was sent to the International Space Station by Space Tango, Inc. The story was so unique, MCG even got a front page write up in our local paper, The Siskiyou Daily News. “This Sempervivum Starlight [Starshine} was sent to the International Space Station by Space Tango, Inc. in order to study carbon dioxide regulation capacity.”

Thank you, Gentry and the kids from the Mission Discovery for choosing MCG for your succulent experiment. We cannot wait to see the results! What a wonderful, new way to learn about space and plants.

#3 Handpicked plants at MCG by a plant breeder and horticulturist. Submitted by George Hull.

George paid MCG a personal visit when he was looking for his plants. As you can see from this image he chose quite a variety, including everything from Air Plants, Kalanchoe, Sempervivum and Sedum. Looks like a great variety here of colors and plants. “As a plant breeder and lecturer in horticulture, I have been to many nurseries over my fifty years in horticulture, mane good, some great and some well let's just say neither of the above. I had a recommendation regarding Mountain Crest so we dropped in. We were completely overwhelmed. The staff were as friendly and helpful as one could be and the greenhouses were as one would expect from a well run outfit. There are no weeds nor sick and dying plants which is paramount for me. Any questions were professionally answered and prices were quite fair. The assortment will allow even the professional plant geek to find quite enough. I cannot say enough good and have nothing negative to pass along. All I can say is, "Go and find out for yourself."

Thank you, George for the wonderful review of our plants and our staff. We are happy that we were able to work well with you and had a selection to your liking. We are plant geeks too and pride ourselves not only in the quality of the plants but in our customer service and knowledge of them.

#4 Succulent Landscaped Garden Railroad. Submitted by Douglas Brainard.

Douglas planted our succulents, everything from soft to hardy, and watched them thrive inside his outdoor railroad. What fun! “Small succulents make a great ground cover for the 1/24 scale (G) garden railroad. This succulent hill was planted starting in June and have been growing well during our hot, miserable summer and now seem to be very happy now in Florida's November.”

Thank you, Douglas for your creative submission. What an interesting way to incorporate landscape design with playtime. The plants look great and are a beautiful example of how succulents thrive in the right conditions.

#7 Upcycled Point Shoe. Submitted by Linette Roe.

Linette used a coat of Polyurethane to moisture proof the point shoe and then planted up the plug tray she ordered from MCG. “Most of the plants are from Mountain Crest but I don't think every single one is. After a coating of polyurethane to moisture proof the pointe shoe, I planted from the plug tray I ordered from Mountain Crest. I am in an unusual position where I have access to used and unusable pointe shoes but can't bear to throw them away, so I took this opportunity to recycle a product and create a happy home for succulents!”

Thank you, Linette for your wonderful submission. What a wonderful way to upcycle and keep precious memories alive!
