Snow Globe - Employee Creations Week 6

Week 6: Daniella, Snow Globe

Being a family owned business, we like to run the nursery like a big family. We thought a fun blog project would be to invite all our employees to make their own Succulent creations. We are asking one employee a week, starting alphabetically, to do so. At the end of each week we will “showcase” that employees design at the nursery, on the blog and on our Instagram.

Why a snow globe?

It took awhile for me to come up with a concept for this project. But, while I was looking through my things I found an old snow globe someone had given to me and I remembered we had a glass planter at the nursery that I could transform into a snow globe.

How long did it take to make it and how many plants did you use?

My project is not very large, so it only took me two hours and I used 7 plants.

How exactly did you make it?

First, I layered the soil at the bottom and then I put the house in, which gave me a better idea of how many plants would fit. After the house, I created a pathway, added my plants and some white pebbles to look like snow!

What are some of the plants you used and why?

I tried to use plants with a white tint to them to give it a winter look. I used two Echeveria ‘Frosty’, three Senecio Haworthia and two Senecio ‘Scaposus.’

What are your favorite succulents?

My favorite succulents are the Echeverias, because I really like the rosette shape and the different colors they come in.

What are the most difficult succulents to work with?

The most difficult succulents to work with are the Jelly Beans, because they break easily.

Why or what do you love about working at MCG?

I like working at MCG, because it is really fun learning about all the new plants. But, my favorite thing about MCG is how we are like one big family. We all work really well together and share many laughs.
