Where to Grow: Outdoors in partial sun. Indoors in bright locations or under grow lights.
Climate: All succulents can happily grow outdoors when temperatures are above 40F and below 100F. Protect from full sun during hot summer afternoons. Bring indoors to protect from frost.
Acclimation: Allow about 2 weeks to gradually transition from bright shade to partial sun after delivery (learn more)
Transplanting: We recommend transplanting within 1-2 weeks. If necessary, plants can stay in original pots for several weeks with proper care (learn more)
Soil: Use gritty, well-draining soil to promote root growth and prevent rot, e.g. a cactus or succulent potting mix from your local garden center
Watering: Water deeply but only when the soil is dry. Actual frequency varies by location, container, soil, and season

What type of pot do the succulents ship in?

Each of the succulents in this tray comes fully rooted in its own 2" square, plastic grow pot with drainage holes. It's always good plant hygiene to replant into a new pot with well-draining soil (or in the ground if they're hardy in your Grow Zone), but your succulents can stay in the grow pots they arrive in for up to about a month after delivery if necessary.

Yes, near a sunny window is a great place to keep freshly delivered succulents before you're ready to transplant them. If the weather is mild, you can also often keep succulents outdoors in a shaded to partial sun area.

If we are getting these for favors, how many days before the event should we order them?

You can order up to six months in advance to reserve your order. Just leave us a note in the "Order Comments" during checkout as to when you would like them delivered. If you're using them for an event, we recommend requesting delivery 1-2 weeks before the day of the event. That way the succulents can get some sun and recover from shipping before the big day.

Yes, these succulents are potted individually in 2" square, plastic grow pots. When using them as favors, most people chose to wrap the pots in decorative paper or transplant them quickly into nicer pots like these 2"-3" Succulent Pots.

Unfortunately, we cannot take specific requests in trays or sets, because we make them in bulk each week base on the varieties that are in peak season. Is it possible to plant these bulk succulents outdoors?

You can! Do note that this tray includes a mix of frost hardy and temperate succulents. In most climates, even soft/temperate succulents can be outdoors for much of the year, but they should be in containers that can be brought indoors before there's any chance the temperature might drop below freezing. Frost hardy succulents are perfect for outdoor planting, either in pots or in-ground plantings. Every tray comes with a legend that shows the minimum temperature each variety can tolerate, so you'll know which types can be outdoors year-round in your Hardiness Zone.

Succulents need grittier soil than other plants because they are adapted to dry conditions and store water in their leaves. Regular potting soil mixes stay damp for long periods of time, which can cause rot in succulents. Instead, use a sandy, well-draining soil so you can water thoroughly without leaving your succulent in standing water.

When should I plant my succulents after they arrive?

Our plants can be transplanted immediately upon arrival.
If you want to wait to transplant, they can remain in their original containers for up to a month. If the pots came in a plastic carrier tray, remove the pots from the carrier tray prior to the first watering.

Keep the plants indoors near a sunny window or outdoors under a roof (only if outdoor temperatures stay above your succulent's minimum hardiness temperature). Water only after the soil is fully dry by drenching from above with a faucet, hose, or watering can. Gently shake excess water from the leaves and allow containers to drain completely.
