DIY Succulent Beach Arrangement

Week 9: Ruth – Seaside Scene

Ruth has supplied this sunny seaside succulent scene!

Being a family owned business, we like to run the nursery like a big family. We thought a fun blog project would be to invite all our employees to make their own Succulent creations. We are asking one employee a week, starting alphabetically, to do so. At the end of each week we will “showcase” that employees design at the nursery, on the blog and on our Instagram.

Why a Seaside Scene?

I like to be creative and this gave me the opportunity to do so.

All of the little details of this arrangement really make it special!

How long did it take to make it and how many plants did you use?

I used 8 plants and it took a couple of hours.

Has anyone ever been so relaxed?

How exactly did you make it?

I put in some soil, took a minute to decide where I wanted things, and started.

It may be snowing outside but our seaside friend doesn't mind (neither do our sempervivum!)

What are some of the plants you used and why?

The Tokyo sun because of its color, and because it reminded me of the sea. The other plants were chosen for the same reason: Tiger's jaws, ET's fingers, Golden glow, Firesticks.

He even has his own little senecio privacy hedge!

What are your favorite Succulents?

There really are so many beautiful succulents. I do like blue knight, tokyo sun, and classic jade to name a few.

What are the most difficult succulents to work with?

Haworthia and the sedum can be trying.

Why or what do you love about working at MCG?

I do like that it is a family business, and it is very nice to come to work.
