Highlights
Sedum spectabile 'Brilliant' (now Hylotelephium spectabile): A showy landscaping plant that brings height and fantastic flowers to borders and outdoor arrangements. This tall grower has larger, relatively thin leaves of bright green. It can grow to a 18.0" tall and form a lovely clump. It blooms from late summer to mid fall, providing an important late season source for pollinators. The blooms live up to its name with clusters of petite, hot pink flowers. This variety survives especially frigid winters by going dormant and losing all of its aboveground plant material. It resprouts each spring with fresh foliage.
Hardy Sedum are easy, frost-hardy plants that thrive outdoors with full sun and great drainage. Plant in raised beds or containers with drainage holes and mix 50% coarse sand, pumice, or perlite into the soil to prevent rot. Regular water will help young plants establish roots and spread quickly, but mature Sedum can tolerate several months of drought. If you choose to propagate by hand, cut off the top 2.0"+ of stem and transplant it to re-root.
