Highlights
Sedum spathulifolium 'Cape Blanco': An elegant silver to white ground cover for rock gardens and borders. Its foliage is an eye-catching powdery white and it spreads as a mat of branching stems. Summer brings blooms of sunny yellow, much loved by pollinators. Cold winters can induce stunning, magenta flushing. This cultivar is bred from a Pacific Northwest native and it thrives in mild, wet climates. It earned the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit for its vigor and appearance.
Hardy Sedum are easy, frost-hardy plants that thrive outdoors with full sun and great drainage. Plant in raised beds or containers with drainage holes and mix 50% coarse sand, pumice, or perlite into the soil to prevent rot. Regular water will help young plants establish roots and spread quickly, but mature Sedum can tolerate several months of drought. If you choose to propagate by hand, cut off the top 2.0"+ of stem and transplant it to re-root.
