Highlights
Sedum 'Mongolian Stardust' (now Hylotelephium tatarinowii): A hard-to-find Asian variety with rambling stems and sweet blossoms. It has small, toothy leaves of sage green and long, thin stems that arch and sprawl. It develops into a lovely clump about 6.0" tall and 8.0" wide. Charming, white to pink flowers emerge in late summer. This variety tolerates extra cold winters by going dormant and losing its aboveground plant matter, but it resprouts anew each spring.
Hardy Sedum are easy, frost-hardy plants that thrive outdoors with full sun and great drainage. Plant in raised beds or containers with drainage holes and mix 50% coarse sand, pumice, or perlite into the soil to prevent rot. Regular water will help young plants establish roots and spread quickly, but mature Sedum can tolerate several months of drought. If you choose to propagate by hand, cut off the top 2.0"+ of stem and transplant it to re-root.
