Highlights
Sedum 'Matrona' is a robust and elegant perennial succulent known for its upright habit, sturdy reddish stems, and broad, smoky blue-green leaves tinged with purplish hues. As summer transitions to fall, this striking sedum produces clusters of soft pink flowers that deepen to a rosy mauve, attracting bees and butterflies while adding seasonal color to garden beds, borders, and containers. Drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, 'Matrona' thrives in full sun and well-draining soil, making it an excellent choice for xeriscapes and pollinator-friendly landscapes. Its sculptural form and year-round interest make it a standout specimen for gardeners seeking both beauty and resilience.
Please Note: Dormant in winter months, but will typically recover by mid-May in most climates.
Hardy Sedum are easy, frost-hardy plants that thrive outdoors with full sun and great drainage. Plant in raised beds or containers with drainage holes and mix 50% coarse sand, pumice, or perlite into the soil to prevent rot. Regular water will help young plants establish roots and spread quickly, but mature Sedum can tolerate several months of drought. If you choose to propagate by hand, cut off the top 2.0"+ of stem and transplant it to re-root.
