Mystery Agave: Large, sculptural beauties for dry, sunny gardens. Agave tend to have blue-green leaves, sometimes decorated with fanciful patterns and fierce spines. Most grow slowly but can live for decades and reach impressive sizes. Some will send up new offsets and grow into dense clusters. Some species are frost hardy, but most are not.

Agave need plenty of full, outdoor sunlight and great drainage to thrive. They do well in gritty, mineral soils and pots with drainage holes. Over time you'll see new offsets or "pups" sprout up around the base of the mother plant.
Agave grow slowly in the spring and summer and can tolerate high heat and extended drought. They need protection from heavy rains and standing water to prevent rot.
