Highlights
Euphorbia submammillaris variegata is a visually striking succulent known for its compact, cylindrical stems adorned with irregular creamy-white and green variegation. The stems are ridged and lined with small, conical tubercles, giving the plant a unique, almost coral-like texture. Occasionally tipped with tiny spines, this cultivar forms a clumping habit over time, creating a dense and sculptural display. Its bold coloration and architectural form make it a standout choice for collectors and modern succulent arrangements. Like other Euphorbias, it prefers bright light, well-draining soil, and minimal watering, and should be handled with care due to its toxic latex sap.
Euphorbia will not survive a hard frost, but if there is a risk of freezing temperatures they can be brought indoors to grow on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. They need bright sunlight, great drainage, and infrequent water to prevent rot. Pick containers with drainage holes and use well-draining cactus and succulent soil with 50% to 75% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite. Water deeply and wait for the soil to completely dry out before watering again.
