Highlights
Golden Easter Lily Cactus (Echinopsis aurea) (Britton & Rose): A small, globose cactus from northern Argentina with fierce spination. The stem is lined with 14-15 prominent ribs. It is covered in fine, white radial spines and has long, stout central spines. It sends up large, bright yellow flowers that open during the day and close at night. Over time it can produce new offsets and each stem can reach 4.0" tall and 2.5" wide.
Please note: These are seed grown plants. The mother plants were open pollonated, so there will be variation in spine length and color.
This cactus variety will not survive a hard frost, but if there is a risk of freezing temperatures it can be brought indoors to grow on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. Cactus need bright sunlight, great drainage, and infrequent water to prevent rot. Pick containers with drainage holes and use well-draining cactus and succulent soil with 70% to 80% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite. Water deeply and wait for the soil to completely dry out before watering again. Keep dry in winter.
