Highlights
'Blue Rose' (also known as Echeveria 'Imbricata' and Echeveria x imbricata) (Deleuil): An old French hybrid (E. glauca x E. gibbiflora 'Metallica') that's been popular across three centuries because it is a forgiving grower with an elegant form. Its dense, rounded leaves are a soft blue-green and form a neat rosette up to 10.0" wide. These leaves are also coated in farina, a powdery substance that covers the leaves of many Echeveria. When grown in bright sunlight, the edges can even blush pastel pink.
'Blue Rose' is a freely offsetting variety. Left to their own devices, these offsets will develop into large, layered clusters that beautifully fill a container. With years of growth, the bare stems beneath the rosettes can grow up to 6.0" tall. To regain a compact look, follow our guide to fixing an overgrown succulent.
A mature 'Blue Rose' tends to tolerate lower temperatures than most other Echeveria, but it should still be brought indoors before any hard frosts. Place the container near a sunny window or under a grow light to preserve its color and compact form. Echeveria are drought tolerant; prevent rot by using containers with drainage holes. Water deeply enough for water to run out the drainage hole, but allow soil to completely dry before watering again.
