Highlights
Dinteranthus inexpectatus (Dinter ex. Jacobsen): An elegantly silver, stemless mesemb, with sunny yellow flowers. This rare variety is almost egg-like in appearance with an angular split down the middle. It blooms from between its leaf pair with satiny flowers of many petals. Its care needs are very similar to Lithops but it must also have a distinct winter dormancy without water.
Please Note: This rare species is challenging to grow and prone to rot.
Soft succulents will not survive a hard frost, but if there is a risk of freezing temperatures they can be brought indoors to grow on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. They need bright sunlight, rapid drainage, and infrequent water to prevent rot. Pick containers with drainage holes and use well-draining cactus and succulent soil with 80% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite. Only water after splitting is complete, when the soil is completely dry, and the new, inner leaf pair starts to feel less turgid.
