Highlights
Delosperma nubigenum (Hardy Yellow Ice Plant): The most frost hardy of all the ice plants. This vigorous grower develops into a tight mat that spreads easily and can trail from containers. Its foliage is green most of the year but turns a vibrant pink in winter. Most eye-catching about this species, though, is its explosion bountiful yellow flowers in summer. This ground cover truly makes a statement.
Delosperma are easy, frost hardy plants that thrive outdoors with full sun and great drainage. Plant in raised beds or containers with drainage holes and mix 50% coarse sand, pumice, or perlite into the soil to prevent rot. Regular water will help young plants establish roots and spread quickly, but mature Delosperma can tolerate several months of drought. If you choose to propagate by hand, cut off the top 2.0"+ of stem and transplant it to re-root.
