Highlights
Agave parryi 'Azul Monterrey' is a striking and compact succulent known for its powdery blue-gray leaves arranged in a tight rosette formation. This agave thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it an excellent choice for xeriscapes, rock gardens, or container plantings. Its thick, rigid leaves end in sharp tips and display subtle marginal teeth, adding a bold architectural presence to any landscape. Mature plants may produce a dramatic flowering spike before completing their life cycle, often leaving behind offsets. Drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, 'Azul Monterrey' brings both resilience and sculptural beauty to arid gardens and succulent collections alike. This plant is fully rooted in a 1.5" plug.
Agave need plenty of full, outdoor sunlight and great drainage to thrive. They do well in gritty, mineral soils and pots with drainage holes. Over time you'll see new offsets or "pups" sprout up around the base of the mother plant.
Agave grow slowly in the spring and summer and can tolerate high heat and extended drought. This variety is only somewhat frost hardy and needs protection from heavy rains and standing water to prevent rot.
