Highlights
Agave kerchovei 'Huajuapan Red' is a striking and colorful agave variety prized for its vivid red and green foliage that intensifies with sun exposure and stress. Its sharply triangular leaves feature rich green centers that fade into deep maroon-red tips, all edged with distinctive, toothed margins and a central spine. This plant is native to the arid regions of Mexico. This plant is fully rooted in a 1.5" plug.
Agave need plenty of full, outdoor sunlight and great drainage to thrive. They do well in gritty, mineral soils and pots with drainage holes. Over time you'll see new offsets or "pups" sprout up around the base of the mother plant.
Agave grow slowly in the spring and summer and can tolerate high heat and extended drought. This variety is only somewhat frost hardy and needs protection from heavy rains and standing water to prevent rot.
