Highlights
Agave geminiflora (Gawler): A unique specimen amongst the Agave. This plant features narrow, sharp leaves with silvery hair that twists and curls around the mess of leaves. It's usually solitary but very mature specimens can branch. At the end of its life, it produces an impressive bloom stalk, roughly 20' tall, and covered in pairs of green and purple blooms. This plant ships as a 1.5" plug.
Agave need plenty of full, outdoor sunlight and great drainage to thrive. They do well in gritty, mineral soils and pots with drainage holes. Over time you'll see new offsets or "pups" sprout up around the base of the mother plant.
Agave grow slowly in the spring and summer and can tolerate high heat and extended drought. This variety is only somewhat frost hardy and needs protection from heavy rains and standing water to prevent rot.
