Highlights
Sinocrassula yunnanensis (aka Napoli Noire or Chinese Jade) (Berger): A unique, rare succulent with a near-black coloration. This Chinese species gets a spooky look from its rough, pointed leaves that deepen to black in direct sun. It grows as a dense, compact rosette and crests more often than other succulents. Be sure to keep this finicky grower in very gritty soil and a draining container. Each rosette blooms once in its life and is then replaced by new offsets. With time, it can develop into an impressive clump.
Please Note: This variety can be tough to grow and has fragile leaves that can fall off easily in shipping.
Soft succulents will not survive a hard frost, but if there is a risk of freezing temperatures they can be brought indoors to grow on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. They need ample sunlight, good drainage, and infrequent water to prevent rot. Pick containers with drainage holes and use well-draining cactus and succulent soil with 50% to 70% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite. Water deeply enough for water to run out the drainage hole, then wait for the soil to fully dry before watering again.
