Highlights
Sedum clavatum (Clausen): A fleshy, blue-green rosette with pink leaf points. This species spreads on thick stems up to 8.0" long on the cliffsides of Central Mexico. The rosettes have a thick, powdery coating of farina and can get a nice pink blush in summer. Their sprawling habit makes them a great choice for a hanging basket, but they can also easily be pruned and transplanted to maintain a more compact look. Each year they can produce clusters of tiny, white flowers.
Like most succulents, soft Sedum need great drainage and deep, infrequent water to prevent rot. Pick containers with drainage holes and use well-draining cactus and succulent soil with 50% to 70% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite. Water deeply enough for water to run out the drainage hole, then wait for the soil to fully dry before watering again.
Soft Sedum can be propagated from stem cuttings or mature leaves. Look to our Succulent Cuttings Guide for more information.
