Highlights
Echeveria shaviana (also known as Echeveria 'Cheyenne'): A blue-grey rosette that can flush pink in bright sunlight. The leaves have a powdery coating of natural wax (farina). It can grow outdoors year-round in frost-free climates, but it also overwinters well indoors if given plenty of sun. To grow indoors, keep E. shaviana near a sunny window or under a grow light to maintain its normal colors and compact rosette form.
Like other Echeveria rosettes, in spring it will send up one or two tall bloom stalks from which dangle delicate, bell-shaped flowers. Sometimes two bloom stalks even form a heart! Each plant can bloom multiple times with flowers that attract pollinators. This variety can be slow to produce offsets, but it is easy to propagate from leaves or stem cuttings (more info).
Echeveria are well-adapted to drought and do not need to be watered frequently. Keep them in pots with drainage holes and gritty, well-draining soil like cactus / succulent potting mix. Water deeply but only when the soil is completely dry.
