Highlights

'Black Gem' (x Alworthia pentagona): A hybrid of Aloe speciosa x Haworthia cymbiformis. It has green, triangular leaves that flush a bronze red tone when grown in bright sunlight. This variety offsets freely and forms nice clusters over time.

Soft succulents will not survive a hard frost, but if there is a risk of freezing temperatures they can be brought indoors to grow on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. They need great drainage and infrequent water to prevent rot. Pick containers with drainage holes and use well-draining cactus and succulent soil with 50% to 70% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite. Water deeply enough for water to run out the drainage hole, then wait for the soil to fully dry before watering again.

The pictures are sample only and the actual plants vary week to week. However, starting with the top left plant and working our way clockwise, the plants are Echeveria 'Perle von Nurnberg', Sedum rubrotinctum 'Aurora' (a.k.a. pink jelly beans), Anacampseros telephiastrum f. variegatum 'Sunrise', and Graptosedum 'Alpenglow'. Each can be purchased individually at those links.

The plants in this set do vary week by week, however, they're very often easy for beginners. Just be sure to grow them on your sunniest window sill, plant in very gritty soil, and only water when the leaves feel a little limp.

Although many are, we can't guarantee that every plant that ends up in this set will be pet safe. For instance, Kalanchoe 'Pink Butterflies' frequently ends up in this set and it is not pet safe.

Each of the succulents in this tray comes fully rooted in its own 2" square, plastic grow pot with drainage holes. It's always good plant hygiene to replant into a new pot with well-draining soil (or in the ground if they're hardy in your Grow Zone), but your succulents can stay in the grow pots they arrive in for up to about a month after delivery if necessary.

Not necessarily. We make all of our sets and trays each week based on the types of succulents that are in peak season. The photos are sample only, but you will get a range of varieties that all fit the theme of the set or tray.

To pick the exact, individual plants you want, you'll want to shop here in our main catalog. Unfortunately, we cannot take specific requests in trays or sets, because we make them in bulk each week base on the varieties that are in peak season. But you'll always get a good mix of succulent types that match the theme of the tray or set.

The plants that are in the pink and blue sets are random so long as they are pink for the pink set and blue for the blue set.
