Aloe aristata - Lace Aloe

Product Details

Lace Aloe (Aloe or Aristaloe aristata) (Haworth): One of the few semi-hardy aloes. Don't be fooled by its petite size; Lace Aloe is a resilient, easy-to-grow plant. Its green, triangular leaves are dotted with small, white bumps and fringed with fine cilia. It grows in a variety of habitats through South Africa and Lesotho and can tolerate a wide range of environmental conditions.

The leaves of this rosette are thickly lined with white cilia and a dense smattering of white bumps makes it resemble its relatives in the Haworthia genus. During the summer growing season it can send up a 12"-18" tall branched bloom stalk covered with tubular, peach-colored flowers that attract pollinators.

Try planting this in-ground or in a pot to be kept outdoors in partial sun or indoors near a sunny window. Wherever you plant it, be sure that it has excellent drainage and avoid watering unless the soil is completely dry. Reduce watering frequency even more during winter.

If given room to spread, Lace Aloe will produce numerous new offsets around its base. The offsets can be transplanted or left to grow into a mounding clump up to 2" wide.
