Agave 'Blue Flame' (Verity): A lovely, wavy cultivar that can show glaucous blue tones and neat striations. This is a hybrid cross of A. shawii x A. attenuata. It tends to grow larger and have stiffer tips than the popular A. attenuata. Fortunately, this fast grower is not aggressive in sending out new pups. At maturity, a single plant can reach 2.5' tall and 3.0' wide.
Agave need plenty of full, outdoor sunlight and great drainage to thrive. They do well in gritty, mineral soils and pots with drainage holes. Over time you'll see new offsets or "pups" sprout up around the base of the mother plant.
Agave grow slowly in the spring and summer and can tolerate high heat and extended drought. This variety is not frost hardy but can survive winter indoors near a sunny window. Protect from heavy rains and standing water to prevent rot.
