Highlights
Golden Glow (Sedum adolphi or S. adolphii) (Hamet): A colorful stemmed grower with thick, upturned leaves. The plant has a glossy, lime base color and the leaf tips flush orange when grown in bright sunlight. S. adolphii is drought-adapted and grows natively in rocky outcroppings in Mexico. It has branching stems and as they grow they bend, making them colorful trailing plants in container arrangements.
As a soft succulent, Golden Glow needs protection from hard frosts and heavy rains. Growers in hardiness zone 8 and below can bring it indoors to overwinter near a sunny window or under a grow light. Water deeply when the soil is completely dry and be sure to use well-draining pots and soil.
S. adolphii can be a reluctant bloomer in cultivation, but will sometimes flower in winter. When blooming, it produces white, star-shaped flowers with a subtle fragrance. Soft Sedum can be propagated from stem cuttings or mature leaves. Look to our Succulent Cuttings Guide for more information.
