Highlights
'Super White' (Haworthiopsis / Haworthia attenuata) is a fascinating spin on the much-loved Zebra Plant and has the same white bumps lining the outside of its leaves. In nature, it grows in the shrub lands of South Africa with acidic soil and partial shade or filtered light. This variety can tolerate low light, making it a favorite houseplant, even for beginners. It is especially easy to grow and rarely affected by common succulent pests and diseases. Strong, drought-tolerant roots will grow if they have great drainage and deep, infrequent water when the soil is fully dry.
Haworthiopsis tolerate high heat by slowing down and eventually going dormant in the peak of summer. This means that, unlike other succulents, it is important not to over-water or fertilize during summer dormancy and water more frequently in the winter growing season. Direct sun can burn the leaves. The Zebra Plant is slow to grow and produce offsets, but slow and steady really does win the race here, as the Zebra Plant is particularly difficult to kill.
